A clear place to begin.
Understand the role. Prepare for the conversation. Identify your next steps.
01Start with a fit call
A free 20-minute conversation identifies the support you are seeking, any time sensitivity and whether a further assessment makes sense. It is not a mediation session, legal consultation or opportunity to review a full case file.
02Clarify the role and fit
We identify the client or participants and check prior involvement, conflicts and scope. Mediation includes separate suitability and safety screening. A fit call alone does not establish that a matter is suitable.
03Agree on the process
The written engagement sets out the work, fees, confidentiality limits and participation arrangements. For mediation, each participant consents to the process. Independent legal advice may be needed before and during the work.
04Prepare and move forward
Agree on an agenda and bring only the material needed for it. Work through the issues, record next steps and identify anything unresolved. A follow-up or referral may be more appropriate than continuing the same process.
Before a virtual session.
- Choose a private place and test your connection.
- Discuss communication needs, support people and any privacy or safety concern.
- Keep children out of adult discussions unless their participation has been specifically arranged.
- Agree in advance about recording, who is present and how breaks will work.
Time-sensitive mattersAn enquiry, coaching or mediation does not pause a school, tribunal or court deadline. This is not an emergency service. If there is immediate danger, call 911.
