Educational Advocacy & Parent Coaching

Prepare for the conversation. Understand the process. Plan your next steps.

Feel prepared
to be heard.

Turn a school concern into clear questions, a focused request and a manageable next step.

Support can help when you feel overwhelmed by meetings, unsure who makes a decision or stuck in a difficult exchange. You do not need a complete account of everything that has happened to begin.

  • IEP & Meeting Preparation

Bring the child’s strengths, current difficulties and your top priorities into focus. Prepare questions about the Individual Education Plan (IEP), how supports are used and how progress will be reviewed.

  • Communication & Conflict Coaching

Separate the problem you want solved from the frustration around it. Practise a clear opening statement, a specific request and a calm response when a conversation becomes difficult.

  • Education-System Navigation

Identify the decision, the person responsible and the relevant school or board process. Locate published policies and distinguish a meeting, a complaint and a formal review or appeal.

  • Meeting Support & Follow-Up

Where agreed and authorized, receive support with meeting participation, notes and next steps. Leave with a record of who will do what, and when the matter will be reviewed.

Support, with
clear boundaries.

Advocacy and coaching support the client identified in the engagement. Student interests, consent, capacity and privacy matter throughout. Parent involvement does not automatically authorize access to every record or decision on a student’s behalf.

This is educational consulting, advocacy and coaching. Legal advice, litigation and court or tribunal representation are outside the practice’s scope. No placement, accommodation or school decision is guaranteed.

What can I expect to take away?
  • A short statement of the concern and the outcome you are seeking.
  • A meeting agenda, question list or communication plan suited to the issue.
  • A record of agreed actions and a practical follow-up point.

The exact work is agreed in advance. Meeting attendance, document review and written follow-up are included only where the engagement says so.

When is neutral family-school facilitation different?

Facilitation supports a conversation among willing participants. The facilitator is impartial and does not advocate for one side. The same professional will not provide parent advocacy and then facilitate that dispute as a neutral.

What if a decision is urgent?

Identify any deadline at the outset. A meeting or complaint process does not automatically pause an appeal, tribunal or court deadline. Obtain legal advice promptly if a formal right or remedy may be affected.

Find the right next step.
